Things change: a symphony of leaves (prelude)

In the mixed hardwood forest remnant bordering Norbuck Park here in East Dallas, things are starting to change.

Suggestions of change

Even though the daily highs are still hitting the mid-90s, the evenings arrive sooner; the dark lasts longer, and the air has more of a chance to cool down before heading back up to summer-like heat levels.

And so it begins

As a result, there’s definitely a touch of fall in the air — as supported by the official seasonal calendar, which flipped over to autumn on Saturday.

And the leaves are beginning to turn. Just slightly, just around the edges (or in the center) — nothing of the showy, all-encompassing sort as of yet, but still — there for the eyes to see and the camera to record.
