From desert to mountain
Today’s photos find us having climbed several thousand feet from the locality of our previous post, as Anne and I embarked on what I shall refer to as our Excellent Alpine Adventure.
Traveling southeast from Castle Valley, Utah – situated just above the Colorado River – one climbs steadily on the Mountain Loop Road towards the 12,000 ft. peaks of the La Sal Mountains, entering forested terrain and cooler climes. What a contrast to that red rock canyon country just an hour back down the road!
While most of the aspens hereabouts have lost their color (not to mention their leaves), we did discover a pocket of gloriously golden aspens around another bend in the road.
But more about that in another post.
