Capitol Reef: an evening’s introduction

DSC00571On the hectic first day of our Utah vacation, we managed to exit the Dallas metromess (the hardest part, considering the construction btwn. our home and DFW Airport), fly to Grand Junction, rent a car (Mazda CX-5), drive to Torrey, check into our motel (Broken Spur Inn – nice joint!), and reconnoiter Capitol Reef before sundown.

Here are a few images from that first evening’s drive-through along the main park road – with a quick detour into Grand Wash, where we would undertake a hike on the morrow.

  1. Beautiful shots – what a great trip. I love the shock/thrill when you go, in such a short time, from the terrible hustle/bustle around DFW airport to an isolated natural spot.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • Ravens seem to be a constant presence around the cliffs of the canyonlands. Their aerial exploits lead me to believe that they are actually engaging in play. Thanks for your comment, ocean b.
